On Friday, September 20th, the Center for Literary Arts will host the launch of Reed Magazine: Issue 152. The event will include a reading by some of the award-winning contributors to magazine and culminate in a talk by National Book Award winner Jonathan Franzen, author of The End of the End of the Earth. This event begins at 7 PM. Hammer Lobby doors will open at 6 PM. THIS IS A FREE EVENT.
Jonathan Franzen is the author of five novels, including Freedom and The Corrections, and five works of nonfiction and translation, including The Kraus Project and Farther Away, all published by FSG. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the German Akademie der Künste, and the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
VIP Reception – TICKETS ARE REQUIRED
Following the reading, VIP ticket-holders are invited to join us on the rooftop terrace of the Hammer Theatre for a special reception, book-sale, and signing with Jonathan Franzen. Live jazz, courtesy of SJSU’s Latin Jazz Band, refreshments and cash bar will be provided. Reading followed by an on-stage interview–conducted by Director of the Human Rights Collaborative and an Associate Professor in Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at SJSU, William Armaline–plus a book sale and signing.
